Family Time

I had the wonderful experience of having my mother, father, brother and sister-in-law visit (back to back) in the past two weeks. :) This is unusual because my family has been spread across the globe for the past few years and we didn't get to see each other as much as we'd like. I just wish they could have all stayed for a little longer! But since dad is the only one retired (notice the retirement beard), we all had to go back to work!

My brother and sister-in-law came to town weekend before last for a friend's wedding and we were thrilled that they were able to stay with us for the weekend. We tried to take them to all the cultural experiences here. We went to the Split Creek Goat Farm to see the farm and (more importantly) get some goat cheese and other goodies. This was a big hit. If you know Chris and Joana, you know that cheese is very important to them, so we were nervous about how they'd like the cheese at Split Creek. Luckily they loved it as much as we do. :) We also took them to Timms Mill Grist Mill. This is a local restored Grist Mill where they made REAL stone ground grits. Not the instant kind, these are the real thing, creamy and delicious. Unfortunately the Mill was closed but we walked around the outside and took pictures. We missed the cultural experience of the local BBQ joint that is only open on Friday and Saturday and has a local bluegrass band. We'll have to make sure they get to that one next time...it is truly an experience! :)

Mom and Dad came to town this past weekend. :) When they got here Friday, we went to dinner at our favorite restaurant in the area. It is a restaurant attached to a local bed and breakfast owned by a chef and his wife (The Liberty Inn). Mom and dad loved the restaurant and were teasing that they'll come back when I'm in labor at the hospital. I don't think that would be quite fair, but I don't know that I'll be able to do anything about it at that point! :) On Saturday we headed to Hilton Head for a family friend's wedding. The wedding was outside by the beach and was beautiful. The weather was threatening to rain but cleared up just in time for the beautiful bride to walk down the aisle.
