Family Time!

Last weekend we began the week of the family. I heard a friend call it "Fambush" (Family + Ambush). We began with Chris, Joana and Amaia arriving from NY and France. We went hiking and saw the Stumphouse Tunnel (see picture to the right). This is a tunnel that was started in 1852 for a railway that was supposed to connect Charleston to Cinncinati. The Civil War and then a lack of money during reconstruction led to the abandonment of the tunnel. Later it was used to cure Clemson Univeristy's famous Blue Cheese. It provided the perfect temperature and humidity.

We also took them to Just More BBQ. We thought it would be a truly cultural experience. If you are not familiar with Just More, it is a farm house turned BBQ joint. They are only open Friday and Saturday evenings and they have Bluegrass bands as entertainment. When the band began playing The Chicken Dance, we explained that this is a silly dance sometimes done at weddings or family events. Joana and Amaia began laughing and explained that they have the same dance and the same song in France. It is called "The Dance of the Duck"!

Joana and Amaia had to leave after Memorial Day, but this weekend we welcomed more family into town for Baby A's baptism. Daniel's mother made a gorgeous smocked baptismal gown and slip for her. It took many hours of hard work so we hope that the future generations of Bozards appreciate it as much as we do! She also had a beautiful silver bracelet engraved with her initials as well as a gold pin to fasten her gown. We're trying to influence a love of jewelery. :)

After the baptism, we had family and friends over to our house for lunch. It was great to be able to see everyone. Daniel, Chris and my dad spent the week smoking the pork in preparation for the BBQ. We thought we would have a ton of pork for leftovers, but there was barely any left.
