July Happenings

A's new favorite game is to play with the pups! She can say Maddie and Lola (although it sounds like Ma-ee & Ro-ra) and loves to call them inside.  Maddie is the best with her because she will lie still and let A lie down next to her or snuggle up and hug her.  Lola gets so excited that A wants to play with her, that she usually ends up getting too rough with A, so she gravitates toward Maddie.

A's patting Maddie in this picture, but you can't see Maddie.  It does show how much A's hair is growing though! I have to put it up constantly or it turns into a curly mess and is constantly in her face. :-)



This is the face she makes now when we try to take her picture.  She scrunches up her face and we call it "stink face".  Can you see Maddie waiting patiently for a piece of waffle or banana to drop?



Tired little girl! She was watching Elmo on TV and kicking her legs to the music!



Gigi and Pops came to see us in New Orleans!  Here is Gigi getting some quality snuggle time.



There is an artist's fair every month in the park near our house.  We found this hand made island there.  It is solid wood with tongue in groove construction.  A likes to lie down on the bottom shelf and suck her thumb.  It can't be comfortable, right? Not sure why she likes it, but she does. :-)



Random? Not exactly.  The charter network I work for had a "history tour" on chartered buses a few weeks ago.  They took us all around the city to share how the network got started back in 1992, way before it was the "it" thing to become a charter school.  It was a really neat tour and very interesting to hear about the grass roots efforts of people who just wanted quality education for ALL children of New Orleans.  I could go on and on about the history, but I'll save that for another blog posting.....
The tour got REALLY interesting when we popped a tire jumping a curb.  Then we drove on a flat tire for awhile until it started rolling away.  Fortunately, one of our teachers jumped off the bus and brought it back for us.  This all happened right next to another chartered bus company's parking lot.  Since New Orleans is really a small town in disguise, our bus driver knew that bus driver, and arranged for him to take us back to the school.
